The paper... a support for the essential

Despite the omnipresence of sounds and pictures, a great number among us continue to write. One person out of ten has writen at one time of life a private diary. Writing falls short a fundamental need: that is to represent oneself. We write just like children for the first time to be called.

We have chosen to offer you papers of character with and without illustration for your letters to have their own style. There are letters which are more pleasant than other. These ones are recognizable at first sight.


    Recycled paper... the planet’s friend.

For the pleasure to be absolute, our paper - and we too - had to take part in this general fervour for the defense of our environment. Today, the recycled paper is one of the symbol known and recognised for the spreading of the ideas going this way.

Some years ago, pionneers were needed to pose the issues of the pollution of rivers and air, overconsumption of water and energy, deforestation of the planet. Still today, a forest area equal to Switzerland disapears each year. Recycled paper consumes twice less energy, 2 to 400 times less water and no wood: discovering these obvious facts, paper industry had to question itself about new industrial practices in our countries and take part in these essential changes of behaviours in the same way as the local communities, the companies and the particulars.

A lot of improvement remains to be achieved.


    Recycling... a citizen act.

In the year 1998, for the first time, in France, the use of recovered fibres exceeded 50 % in the manufacturing of papers and cardboards. The french consumption of old papers increases of 10 %, but despite an increasing collection (+ 9 %) we import 300,000 tons of recovered papers. In France recovery does not progress fast enough to cover needs.

We recycle only 43,7% (year 1998) of the paper we use (62,9% in Switzerland and 70,2% in Germany).

So as to improve the quality of air and decrease the highly toxic residues coming from the incineration factories, recycling constitues the most intelligent means to value our wastes.
Economy is already today for the paper between 40 and 90 euros a ton (according to heat is recuperated or not).
